Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area, I’ve been into photography since I was 18, when I made the first of three consecutive
summertime trips touring Europe. When my father, who worked in
promotions for The San Francisco Examiner, saw the snapshots
I took during my first trip, he told me I had a talent for picture
taking and he bought me a better camera to take abroad the next
summer. A portrait from that trip won a photography contest and
before I knew it, I had a photography degree from Brooks Institute
in Santa Barbara, Calif., and—fast forward 28 years!—a successful
studio that still has me shooting everything from architecture and
lifestyles for home magazines to restaurants and product shots for My clients include Red Lion Hotels, Adidas, Jeld-
Wen, Corbis, Oregon Home, Sunset, Seattle Homes & Lifestyles,
architects and designers.
As a member of the Portland chapter of the American Society of
Media Photographers, I thrive on studying the latest lighting and
composition trends and folding some of them into the way I shoot
to keep my work fresh and always evolving. I don’t just want to give When I’m not behind a camera, I still like to travel through Europe, take an annual fishing trip in Alaska and work as an extra on any motion picture being filmed in Oregon, which, in a small way, fulfills my passion for the film industry. |
